About the event
On July 20, International Chess Day, International chess forum Moscow Open 2024, organized by Moscow City Department of sport together with Moscow city chess federation, ended.
In 2024, the forum celebrated its 20th anniversary. More than 1,000 athletes from 5 countries (Russia, the Republic of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Egypt) took part in the tournament, which lasted five days.
As part of Moscow Open 2024, all-star game took place for the first time. Its winner was world champion in rapid and blitz Sergey Karjakin, who beat European champion Ernesto Inarkiev.
The men’s stage of the Russian Cup was won by grandmaster Zhamsaran Tsydypov, the women’s stage — by FIDE master Ekaterina Goltseva.

An additional program for forum guests is planned at Moscow Open 2024:
— online commenting;
— master classes in arts and crafts;
— performances by children’s creative groups;
— an area with floor chess pieces;
— magnetic chessboard.
On July 16, the dance group Vera and the art project TENORS OF THE XXI CENTURY will perform at opening ceremony, and the host will be Dmitry Guberniev.
On July 20, before the awarding ceremony, the artist Zvonkiy will perform in front of the participants and guests of the competition.
Also, as part of the competition, an All-Russian refereeing seminar will be held.
